Sunday Blog Spotlight: Sterling Style

Happy Sunday again! I've been stuck in bed all day for various reasons, but am still bringing you the Sunday Blog Spotlight. This week I'm featuring my absolute favorite blog, Sterling Style. This is one of the first fashion blogs I ran across since joining blogspot, and in my opinion, one of the best. Her style is very feminine meets vintage and she takes risks with all of her pieces. I have read her entire blog through twice because every post is inspiring in and of itself!

Birthday Boyfriend

My boyfriend Blake sent me a lovely surprise for my birthday yesterday! He is in the Air Force and stationed in Germany, so he wasn't able to be with me. He gave me an amazing present that has still left me in shock. :) He ordered 200 blue painted carnations (as blue is my favorite color) to be sent to my house in the morning. The men who brought them said he had never done any arrangement so large and had to tone it down because he couldn't even get it out his door! After that, we were talking on the phone and he told me to drive to our little gazebo (many many memories there!) and waiting for me was a single rose and a card/letter. It was so sweet and I am so grateful to have such a caring boyfriend! He's my biggest fan and he actually enjoys reading my blog ;)

Thursday Finds

Yesterday my astronomy class let out an hour early, so I went to one of my favorite little thrift stores. I don't stop by here often, but whenever I do I am completely amazed at the finds! I have never seen a store sell such great items for so little!

Ebay purchase #1-Vintage red rose necklace, $8.50

Ebay purchase #2-Vintage Giovanni rose necklace-$8.50

Thrift store brooches-Enameled flower (50 cents) and pink flowers (75 cents)

Monet charm bracelet-$1.50

Japan teacup-$2

Quilted purse-$2

Horse belt-$1

Happy Birthday!

Yay! Today I'm the big 19! Nineteen is such a strange age...young enough to still be considered a teenager, but old enough to be considered an adult. I'm so thankful I've been given this many years already and hope to have many more amazing years to come! I don't have big plans for today, except possibly go to dinner at Chili's and open a few presents. Tomorrow I plan on going to Orlando to hit some of the major thrift stores (I'm slightly obsessed as you all know but super excited!).

The beginning of this week

The first part of this week has been filled with school, school, and...you guessed it, more school! I'm doing 18 credits (6 classes) at the local college and it's starting to drive me nuts. I just want to get on to the fun stuff and start my English degree instead of dawdling around finishing up with this Associate's. Oh well...it's just another part of life! I had a hard time deciding whether or not I wanted to keep these leather boots or go with a similar style in suede, but my Facebook friends voted leather for sure. I picked them up at Ross this week for $22.99! If you don't buy boots at Ross, you're just getting ripped off, because ALL of their boots are between $16.99-$22.99! I can't wait to go back to see what else they have in stock! :)

I am in love with this outfit, although the boots did get me some stares. Nobody wears high heels where I come from.

Target ($12.99)

I've also been a maniacal Ebay freak the past few days and bought 4 different pieces of jewelry and that gorgeous vintage phone I couldn't stop talking about. I'll post pictures when I receive my goodies in the mail. My Ebay excuse of the week: It's my birthday tomorrow; therefore I must treat myself!

More of my room

Yesterday I spent part of my day sorting through an old stack of fashion magazines which has been piling up under my bed. I was clipping out inspirations for future outfits to go into my lookbook (pictured below). Not only do I have a passion for fashion, but I have a passion for organization as well! I can't stand clutter laying around. I can't think or focus on anything with a pile of stuff in my way. With that being said, my room actually ends up looking clean about half the time, so I guess it's just a win/lose situation!

Cleaning!

Part of my lookbook

Shelf (excuse the precalc textbook in the corner ;)

More jewelry with a vintage Martin Hidalgo painting of Madrid that I picked up for $1!

My room

It may surprise you, but I also have many other interests besides thrifting, with interior design being one of them. Even though I don't own a house yet, I still have control over what my bedroom looks like. If I could wear my room on my body I would, because my design style is very similar to my clothing taste.Blue is my favorite color and my entire room is based around the theme of "blue" and "antiques". These are a few pictures of part of my room, with more coming in another post. :)

Bedspread was bought on Ebay

This picture was bought on a vacation at Goodwill and I loved it so much I wrapped it up and took it on board the airplane as my carryon!

My wall of necklaces...I have a slight obsession!

I collect vintage lockets.

These are just some of my larger necklaces that don't fit in a jewelry box.

Who I Am

I was asked by a few readers to learn a bit more about me. To give you a small background about who I am, I created a "Woman Behind the Blog" page just for you! Check it out in the upper left hand corner or just click the picture below!

Birthday Week

This weekend was filled with working, thrifting, and churching (my new word!). My birthday is this Friday, so I'm thinking Saturday I'll head out to the big city of Orlando and hit up some giant thrift stores! You know you're hopelessly in trouble when you want to go thrifting for your birthday instead of something "normal" such as clubbing. Hopefully I'll have some great finds to post for you! This is what I've been wearing the past few days...

Work outfit from Friday.

Vintage VERA scarf that was $4!

H&M dress from Goodwill that I bought this Saturday

Church look
I've also been considering some of the suggestions that were given to me in a few previous posts. Let's just say I'm going to try and incorporate some of those ideas and make this blog even more amazing. :) Thanks for following!
