My long delay

It feels like forever since I've posted anything! ): I have been so busy lately trying to deal with so many things on my plate. I'm preparing to move to a new town, change colleges, and quit my job and start a new one. I had a cold for about a week in that time and now don't feel good again either! Oh well! Here are two outfits I made from last week. Sorry for the camera photo but my other camera was in use by someone else at the time. I also don't ever want to force myself to post every single day because who wants to read something I didn't even enjoy writing? My posts may be less but every time I do write something it will be because I want to :)
Blazer,top,and belt are all thrifted!

Blogging Hiatus

Sorry that I haven't been posting for the past few days! I have taken a blogging hiatus because I've been feeling a bit under the weather lately. My outfits have only consisted of jeans and a t-shirt for comfort and I wanted to spare you all the obvious. :) I'll be back in a few days!
I stopped by the beach this morning when my professor canceled class...:)

Day 3

I have to say that I felt like a total prep in this outfit! At first I was just wearing the blue shirt (which is the piece I haven't worn yet!) but it just looked boring. I really liked the juxtaposition of the purple and blue colors together...which brought back memories from a photoshoot I did last year! We match! :)

Day 2

For this outfit I combined four pieces which haven't been worn, so I think I am doing pretty good! The blazer and white shirt were thrifted this Sunday, the handbag was thrifted a few weeks ago and I haven't worn it yet, and the necklace was bought about six years ago in Colorado. I like it, but always have a hard time pairing it with clothes I like. Lately I've been wearing only gold tone jewelry and have been shying away from colors. I wanted something to make the outfit seem more casual since this blazer is in a dressier fabric.

I also found this interesting article about Goodwill and about why more middle class shoppers are deciding to purchase secondhand. It's worth a few minutes :) Click here.

My Day 1

Alright, so I decided to embrace this cold, high of 65 degree weather by running to my warmest cowlneck sweater! I believe I bought this back in June and would have worn it sooner if we weren't always swamped with heatwaves. These gray jeans I bought a few months back and have only worn a few times, so they needed to see the light of day as well. My brooch was also never worn, so this outfit just signifies 3 pieces in my closet that have been sitting there unloved!

Sweater (Rampage) Goodwill- $2.50, Brooch (Yard sale) $1, Jeans (Bullhead) Goodwill- $5.30, Boots (Ross) $22.99

Latest Thrifts

Hello all! I am participating in the 30 for 30 challenge and just have not gotten around to posting those 30 items yet. In the meantime, these were my last and latest finds for the next 30 days as I am not shopping until December 7! I've decided to take a little spin on this whole 30x30 challenge thing everyone is doing. See, my problem is not that I can't put outfits together with the clothes I have, but I have so many pieces I never wear/ have never worn! I am going to make it my own personal challenge to wear at least one thing everyday that I have not worn in the past six months.

Sunday Blog Spotlight: Atlantic-Pacific

This Sunday I am choosing to feature the fashion blog Atlantic-Pacific. I found it this week while browsing through some other blogs and was very impressed! I have never seen style like hers anywhere. Everyday she seems to have a new persona, whether it be feminine, rocker, or an eclectic mix. She started the blog this past April so is still fairly new, but is definitely a blog that will rise to the top quickly! Check her out here: http://atlantic-pacific.blogspot.com/

Current Inspirations

This cold (65 degrees is cold to us in Florida!) weather has really had me in a clothing funk the past few days, so my outfits haven't been more than jeans and a tee shirt. I decided to blog about my current inspirations instead!

Feminine Blazer

As you can tell by now-I love blazers! The boots, bag, and blazer are all secondhand. Something about this outfit feels slightly off, but I like how it turned out. I love creating looks around items that I bought used. I can feel like a million bucks in something that cost me only a few dollars. I've been thinking about starting a mini series about some of my thrifting strategies. What do you think?

I also ask that if you've been reading my blog, please consider following! The more readers I know I have, the more excited I am to continue blogging. You guys are my motivation! :)

I've also decided to participate in Kendi's 30 for 30 challenge! If you don't know what it is, be sure to check her out here: http://kendieveryday.blogspot.com/

Vintage in Purple

This was what I wore to school on Monday. At first I didn't have the cardigan on, but at the last minute it all came together and I was really pleased! The shirt is from Wet Seal (I know; I actually bought something new!) and the cardigan was on clearance at Target awhile back.

I'm also thinking about doing the 30 for 30 day challenge that my love Kendi is doing over at her blog, Kendi Everyday. What do you think?

Birthday Thrift Finds

As I wrote a few posts ago, I planned on going to Orlando to visit some of the larger thrift stores. Unfortunately, I had to go on a Saturday so all of them were very crowded. I did manage to snag some great accessories though. :) I was very disappointed by all of the Goodwill stores in Orlando and prefer my local one. I was very pleased with the two larger thrift stores I went to, despite the fact there was little elbow room to move! Here's what I found...

Vintage belt-$1.20

Vintage leopard scarf-$6

Mesh evening bag-$3

Floral scarf-$4

Mom bought me this teapot at a yardsale for $1!

F21 shirt-$10

Yardsale jewelry-$6

Florida Mall Handbag Sale

This Saturday the Florida Mall in Orlando sponsored their first handbag sale to raise money for the Newspapers in Education program. People from all over Central Florida donated about 1500 handbags for it with brand names such as Chanel, Gucci, Prada, etc! It sounded too good to be true, so I had to check it out for myself. It started at 9am, and I arrived right on time only to find they had just let everyone in. It was literally a madhouse, with women grabbing handbags left and right. My strategy was to grab what I liked, and then follow around people who were carrying armfuls of purses I was interested in. Nobody else seemed to catch onto this idea until after all the good stuff was gone. The second you put a purse down, it was snapped up by someone else. I managed to snag an armful of purses, but in the end settled for 3. I got a vintage Chanel quilted bag which feels like butter for $50, a Louis Vuitton for $30, and a fabulous vintage black alligator bag for $8! I hope they make this sale an annual thing.

I am always fascinated by the desire people have to find a great deal and the different ways they go about this. So many of these women were absolutely frantic and grabbing purses they would probably never need, but they were a great bargain so it was "all worth it."
