(click on the link above to donate to Goodwill)
Goodwill's Facebook page reached out to bloggers a few days ago by asking us why we donate to Goodwill. I know we all love to shop there, but have you ever bothered to donate your clothes and housewares back to them? Are you one of those people that throws everything out by your curb for the garbage men to pickup every Monday? Some Goodwills will even come to your house and pickup your larger items for you! All it takes is a phone call. Not only are you helping yourself by clearing out your closet for more yummy thrift finds, you are helping disadvantaged people be trained to work and take care of themselves.
On their site they have an "Impact Calculator" which allows you to estimate how much your donations have changed the lives of others. My donations would allow for this:
So if you have never donated to Goodwill, or even shopped there, consider stopping by today to help change a life of someone who doesn't have the opportunities you have.
Hi, I just found your site as I was doing my usual check for "anewdressaday". I discovered Goodwill only a couple of years ago and have been thrilled with many discoveries there. Our family donates all we get rid of right back to them and I always hope that someone will buy the things we no longer have room for and truly enjoy them. I am so glad that you posted about donating as well as shopping. Thanks. Janet F
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment! I do the same thing as well. I have a bag going in my garage of stuff to take to Goodwill and when it's full I go drop it off. It's important to give back and help others who have helped you.
ReplyDeleteAlways best to share the income with poor people in the name of funding. Some organizations are doing really good things like collecting funds and helping poor people.
